This is an IS version II lens. It simply is the best middle telephoto Canon zoom lens out there. For a wide open aperture shooting some say that this version is a winner when compared to version I. The IS version II lens has a better IS system and allows for pictures to be taken one foot closer when compared to version I.

If you already have an IS version I, you might not need to hurry to update to version II. However, if you just simply want the best, then the version II is your choice. It is just a better lens and is the most perfect lens to date.
